It is with great sadness that the executive and members of the Carriacou Historical Society received the news of the passing of Mr. Stephen Alexander, the immediate former chairman of the Carriacou Historical Society and Museum.
On behalf of the executive, members and on my own behalf, allow me to offer most profound condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Alexander
Indeed, the late Mr. Alexander played a pivotal role in deepening the appreciation of individuals in the preservation and promotion of our heritage and culture. He was very instrumental and contributed immensely in bringing such passion to the communities of Carriacou and Petite Martinique through the museum’s community outreach programs.
We note with pride, his stewardship and enthusiasm which was instrumental in garnering the interest of many in the functions and operations of the Carriacou Historical Society and Museum. Carriacou and Petite Martinique and by extension Grenada have lost an honorable man whose passion infected all he came in contact with.
The late Mr. Alexander was a true believer of cultural preservation with his latest desire being to see the museum upgraded and operate as a state-of-the-art institution. He was a man of great intellect, vision and courage.
Today we mourn the passing of a great son of the soil who has left behind a powerful legacy of determination and dedication in our struggle for the recognition and preservation of our heritage and culture in Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
Once more the entire membership and I share with the bereaved family and friends, the feelings of great loss at this moment of deep sorrow.
May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace
